CASTELROTTO

Eccomi ritornato alle mie montagne. Oggi vi voglio far conoscere "Castelrotto" un bellissimo paese dell'Altoadige.

Castelrotto (in tedesco Kastelruth, in ladino Ciastel) è un comune di 5.988 abitanti della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano. E' situato in un magnifico paesaggio tra prati, pascoli, boschi, alte cime e ampie valli. A ragione è considerato tra le zone più belle dell'Alto Adige. Abitato già in epoca preistorica, come testimoniano diversi ritrovamenti, porta ancora tracce di fortificazioni romane. Numerosi ed interessanti i castelli medioevali, le dimore e gli antichi manieri del XVII e XVIII secolo. Soprattutto le tante chiesette, cappelle, torri, masi e crocifissi posti lungo i sentieri conferiscono una nota del tutto particolare alla zona.

Castelrotto (German Kastelruth, Ladino Ciastel) is a town of 5,988 inhabitants of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. It is situated in a magnificent landscape of meadows, pastures, forests, high mountains and deep valleys. A reason is considered among the most beautiful areas of South Tyrol. Inhabited already in prehistoric times, as witnessed by several findings, still bears traces of Roman fortifications. Many interesting and medieval castles, mansions and ancient manor houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Especially the many churches, chapels, towers, farmsteads and crucifixes along the paths give a special note of the area.
